Wide receiver Devin McCuin and running back Isaiah West have been early standouts

Safety Earl Little Jr., a transfer from Florida State, said he is comfortable in whatever role coaches need him.

The Buckeyes practiced indoors at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center because of the rain this morning, and it was a bit ragged at times.

Maybe the excitement of the first day on Thursday wore off, but several players jogged punitive laps after making mistakes. Backup quarterback Tavien St. Clair ran one after a fumbled snap. Freshman wide receiver Brock Boyd did the same after a defender stripped him of the ball after making a catch.

But there were a couple of standouts who merit mention. It was a bit of a surprise on Thursday when running back Isaiah West got more first-team reps ahead of 2025 starter Bo Jackson. West looked sharp again today. He runs with purpose and makes sharp cuts. Granted, the Buckeyes are not in pads yet, so everything should be taken with a grain of salt. But it is worth noting.

The other offensive player who is jumping out is Devin McCuin, who transferred from Texas-San Antonio. He was a star at UTSA, but it figured to be a big jump to a program like Ohio State. So far, he is shining. The biggest highlight among several was an over-the-shoulder catch of a deep ball from Julian Sayin for a touchdown.

The way McCuin looks so far, he looks like he could be a starter alongside Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss, and could even challenge Inniss for his spot. Five-star freshman Chris Henry Jr. also made his presence felt by using his 6-5 frame to nab a deep sideline ball. There is no defending Henry on a play like that.
