How today's Purdue game might unfold
The Boilermakers have been competitive lately but are still no match for the Buckeyes
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Not long ago, Ross-Ade Stadium was a house of horrors for Ohio State.
There was the overtime loss in 2011 after a blocked extra point late in the fourth quarter that would have given the Buckeyes a win.
There was the 49-20 loss in 2018 that kept Ohio State out of the College Football Playoff.
In fact, OSU is 3-4 at Purdue this century.
Does this mean I’m predicting trouble for Ohio State today? No, it does not.
The Buckeyes are a four-touchdown favorite, and rightly so. OSU is 8-0 and the No. 1 team in the country. Purdue hasn’t won a Big Ten game since 2023. It would be the upset of the decade if the Boilermakers were to stun the Buckeyes.
The teams have played the last two seasons. The combined score is 86-7. Another drubbing is likely today.
But this might not be the complete cakewalk some Ohio State fans expect. Purdue may be winless in the Big Ten, but the Boilermakers have at least been competitive this year under Barry Odom. Under previous coach Ryan Walters, Purdue was a mess.
